Highlights
We acted as atNorth’s local expert partner, ensuring a smooth permitting process with Finnish authorities. By combining expertise from across Rejlers’ divisions, we delivered a broad range of technical support to the data center project.
The collaboration began around a year ago with building permit drawings for the substation buildings, technical specifications for the substation and the preliminary and general engineering of the transmission line connection. As the project progressed, Rejlers’ role expanded to include more detailed engineering, as well as the engineering and contracting of earthworks for the substation buildings. Piling and earthworks at the substation sites are now nearing completion.
Local expertise streamlined the data centre’s permit processes
For the transmission line connection, Rejlers has been responsible for preliminary and general engineering, environmental assessments, permit matters, earthing measurements and drafting landowner agreements. The competitive tendering for the construction of the transmission line connection is currently under way, with Rejlers having prepared the required documentation.
Foreign data center operators often need local expertise in Finland when navigating regulatory and permit procedures.
–We have provided strong technical expertise, worked independently and kept the project on schedule, says Taneli Vihanto, Project Manager at Rejlers.
Rejlers brought both technical depth and an agile working approach to the project, forming a solid foundation for the next phases. Our joint efforts have strengthened trust and ensure that the data center’s critical power supply is delivered as planned.

Collaboration across organizational boundaries
Data center projects require multidisciplinary technical expertise. Rejlers has the capability to support data centers throughout their entire lifecycle – from early-stage engineering to operation and maintenance.
The atNorth project is a good example of a case that demands collaboration across several technical disciplines.
– Engineering the substation and the transmission line connection required close cooperation between different divisions. The schedule was tight, but our experts worked exceptionally well together. The project has once again demonstrated the breadth and depth of expertise we can offer for data center projects, says Vihanto.
