About the project

  • CHALLENGE

Delta Capacity needed to rapidly build a portfolio of large-scale energy storage facilities, but lacked the internal resources to manage complex projects related to BESS, grid connections and construction.

  • SOLUTION

Rejlers supported Delta Capacity with senior project management and technical expertise, including construction management, grid connection, engineering services, simulations, testing and procurement.

  • RESULT

The collaboration enabled efficient development and deployment of multiple BESS facilities, strengthening grid stability and flexibility and supporting the transition to a renewable energy system.

Delta Capacity is a Swiss-based developer of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). Founded in 2022, the company aims to help facilitate the transition to a fully renewable energy system by building a large portfolio of BESS assets across Scandinavia and Central Europe. These assets will help ensure the stability and flexibility of electrical grids, which will increasingly rely on renewable energy sources, with hourly and seasonal variations in electricity output, to support efforts to mitigate climate change.

Rejlers is helping Delta Capacity through various consultancy services to acquire, develop and construct BESS assets. “The collaboration with Delta Capacity is ongoing,” says Simon Harnestam, Business Developer and Project Manager, Connected Energy Division, Rejlers Sweden. “As a relatively new company they do not have the resources to manage all their projects themselves, so Rejlers has set up a team of senior consultants to support Delta Capacity in numerous areas.”

Rejlers is supporting Delta Capacity with construction management, coordination of electrical supplies, installation and grid connection, civil works management, site management, engineering services, grid compliance simulations and testing and procurement of engineering, procurement and construction contractors.

“With our project management skills and technical expertise in BESS, grid connections and inspections we are providing considerable value to Delta Capacity,” says Harnestam. “We have an on-site presence throughout the project and by carefully planning each step we are avoiding unnecessary time delays, additional costs and technical failures. BESS facilities are an essential part of the ongoing energy transition, and we are excited to be collaborating with a company like Delta Capacity.”

“We are proud to contribute to the European energy transition and energy security by providing smart storage solutions,” says Patrik Hes, Founder and CEO Delta Capacity. “Clean energy requires a stable and flexible grid, which is why storage capacity plays a crucial role in the decarbonisation and energy resilience. The potential for change is enormous and we are dedicated to drive it in Europe and overseas.”
