Rejlers contributes to strengthening the district heating network in southern Sweden

Rejlers has been commissioned by Kraftringen Energi AB to carry out preliminary planning of new pumping stations that will increase the capacity of the district heating pipeline between Lund and Lomma. The technical solutions will make it possible to transfer more district heating through the existing pipeline and contribute to a secure and long-term sustainable heat supply in the region.

Press release

Kraftringen is investing approximately SEK 3 billion in renewing and expanding the district heating system until 2030. The investments include a new combined heat and power plant in Örtofta and a new district heating pipeline between Örtofta and Lund. In order to meet future heat needs and replace production that is gradually being phased out, the capacity of the existing pipeline between Lund and Lomma also needs to be strengthened.

Rejlers is responsible for the pre-design of new pumping stations on the Lomma pipeline and gathers specialist expertise in pipe and combined heat and power processes, electricity and automation, as well as construction and land. The subsidiary Rörkraft also contributes with its expertise in pipe design.

“By increasing the capacity of the existing line, Kraftringen can get more out of its district heating network and strengthen the region's heat supply. We are bringing together expertise from several technical areas to develop solutions that work all the way, from connection to the grid to the operation of the new pumping stations”, says Mikael Rentzhog, Business Unit Manager at Rejlers.

The assignment includes investigating how the pumping stations are to be connected to the district heating network and producing cost calculations, timetables and technical decision documentation for Kraftringen's investment decisions. Rejlers will also participate in subsequent project phases with tender documents, support in procurement, design coordination and follow-up during implementation.

The investment in the Lomma pipeline contributes to Kraftringen's ambition to lead the development of future energy work. By focusing on developing local energy solutions that use natural resources efficiently and strengthen the region's conditions for sustainable growth.
