Rejlers awarded EPCI contract for major CO2 project in Norway

Rejlers has signed an EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contract with Equinor ASA on behalf of Northern Lights JV DA. The assignment includes the implementation and installation of a CO₂ quality monitoring system and the integration of filter skids at the Northern Lights CO₂ storage facility in Øygarden, Norway.

Press release

The new contract has been awarded as a result of Rejlers’ contributions during the earlier FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase. Rejlers is now responsible for the complete EPCI delivery, covering detailed engineering, procurement, subcontractor coordination, installation and commissioning. The project is carried out in close collaboration between Rejlers teams in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

“This assignment is a testament to the trust we have earned through our work in the FEED phase. We are proud to contribute to one of Europe’s most ambitious carbon capture and storage projects and to bring our cross-border engineering expertise to the table,” says Ragnar Holtan, Country Manager, Rejlers Norway.

“Northern Lights is a key component in Europe’s climate transition. By ensuring high CO₂ quality for storage, we help establish a robust and safe infrastructure for carbon storage, which is essential to achieving climate targets,” says Malin Ljung Eiborn, Sustainability Director, Rejlers Group.

Northern Lights is part of Norway’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project, Longship, and is developing the world’s first open-source infrastructure for CO₂ transport and storage. The project enables the safe and permanent storage of carbon dioxide from companies across Europe.
