“Rejlers has been a good programming partner: our collaboration has been easy, communication has been effective, and Rejlers has answered our questions quickly.” – Mikko Pulkkinen, Technical Specialist, Halton
A Norwegian hospital wanted a modern, energy-efficient ventilation solution for its 25 operating theatres and ancillary facilities to ensure good conditions for patients and staff. Halton’s air conditioning system was chosen as the solution, consisting of mechanical devices, an automation solution, and automation units supplied by Matrel. Rejlers used Wago to implement a software solution for the air conditioning units in the operating theatres.
Rejlers has robust expertise in HVAC and electrical design for hospitals. Air conditioning automation provides new avenues for designing hospital environments.
It is important for patients and staff to breathe clean air in a hospital. Operating theatres demand a high standard of air purity, and the ventilation must ensure comfortable, draught-free working conditions. Halton’s modern, comprehensive solution achieves these targets while using energy efficiently.
“The automation unit and related software are important parts of our solution: all the pieces must fit together for the ventilation to work as designed. We chose Rejlers to program the automation units because, in our assessment, it was best placed to deliver the work according to our timetable,” says Jyrki Lättilä, Project Manager at Halton.
Easy climate control during demanding operations
Control of the indoor climate is very important for the safe use of operating theatres: it must be possible to adjust the air conditioning during demanding operations according to factors such as the number of personnel involved. The system must be controlled by powerful software with a user interface that meets the hospital’s requirements.
“Rejlers has been a good programming partner: our collaboration has been easy, communication has been effective, and Rejlers has answered our questions quickly,” says Mikko Pulkkinen, Technical Specialist at Halton.
“The timetable and initial data changed during the project. Rejlers was very flexible and adapted to the changes. This was a pleasure to see,” adds Lättilä.
For Rejlers, Halton has been a great partner to work with. Wago, which supplied the automation hardware, was also very helpful during the project and in the use of the software.
“We now have extensive expertise in this software, which can apply seamlessly to new systems,” says Snehal Bopardikar, Project Lead at Rejlers.
A solution that can be applied to future hospital projects
According to Halton, the automation and software solution implemented in Norway could also be applied to future hospital projects. This would mean continued collaboration.
“Any follow-up projects depend on the site and the hardware and system requirements. The solution was designed to allow Rejlers to modify the software for future projects,” Pulkkinen says.
The hospital project in Norway will soon be ready for commissioning. “The project is largely finished in terms of the software. We hope that Rejlers will continue to be as committed and cooperative during commissioning as they have been so far,” says Lättilä.
“Rejlers has been a good programming partner: our collaboration has been easy, communication has been effective, and Rejlers has answered our questions quickly.”
