Rejlers signs agreement with Statsbygg in Norway on energy labelling of properties

Rejlers has signed an agreement with Statsbygg in Norway regarding energy labelling of over 170 properties in the northern part of Norway. The contract runs for two years with the possibility of an extension for another two years.

The agreement includes energy labelling of properties in Ofoten, Lofoten, Troms, Finnmark and Svalbard. Among other buildings, the Sámi Parliament of Norway, universities and university colleges, museums, prisons, office buildings and border control stations will be carefully analysed. Statsbygg develops and manages over 2300 properties in Norway and abroad.

“The energy label indicates how much energy a building is expected to consume. Just as we have energy ratings on refrigerators and stoves, buildings have it too," says Geir Liknes, Senior Energy Advisor at Rejlers Norway.

Rejlers will physically examine all buildings and collect all the facts, after which a simulation program will be used that shows the energy consumption of each building.

“Rejlers will identify potential and efficient energy measures in the properties and give its recommendation on what Statsbygg should prioritise when upgrading buildings with poor energy quality. These measures may range from replacing heating systems, old ventilation systems, fans and pumps to insulating old pipes," says Geir Liknes.

"It is central for us to follow up on political and national goals for climate and energy, which is why the work we are now starting is important," says Rune Stenbro, Chief Engineer at Statsbygg.

The requirement for the energy labelling of commercial buildings over 1000 sqm in size was issued in 2010, and over the past ten years Rejlers has conducted similar analyses for dozens of municipalities, a good number of private building owners and managers, and some county municipalities. The energy labelling of buildings is publicly available information.
