Rejlers Abu Dhabi Awarded Engineering Contract for Major Polyethylene Plant Revamp

This prestigious project, located at the Ruwais site in Abu Dhabi, is part of a strategic upgrade led by TARGET Engineering Construction Company LLC, who has been awarded the EPC scope and subsequently entrusted Rejlers to execute the full engineering package.

The PE4 and PE5 units are based on the proprietary Borstar® Polyethylene Technology, licensed by BOREALIS, and this revamp aims to significantly boost capacity—from 540,000 to 700,000 tons per annum per line.

BOROUGE, established in 1998 through a strategic partnership between ADNOC and Borealis, operates one of the world’s largest integrated polyolefin complexes in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. It delivers advanced polyolefin solutions across industries such as energy, infrastructure, mobility, packaging, healthcare, and agriculture. ADNOC owns a majority 54% stake and Borealis holds a 36% stake in BOROUGE. ADNOC and OMV have recently announced to form Borouge Group International combining of Borouge and Borealis to create Borouge Group International, with new entity to acquire Nova Chemicals, establishing the world’s fourth-largest polyolefins player.
