Rejlers broadens cooperation with Finland's transmission system operator Fingrid

Rejlers is broadening its cooperation with Fingrid and has now been approved as a supplier of consulting services for the general planning of transmission lines. Fingrid is Finland's transmission system operator, responsible for the functioning of the nationwide main grid.

"Becoming a supplier to Fingrid is a milestone on our journey in transmission line design. This shows that we have achieved a high quality and competence in the field," says Matti Hautero, Service Manager at Rejlers in Finland.

Fingrid is considered one of the most demanding customers in the electricity sector in Finland. The company has announced that it will invest two billion euros in the main grid’s energy networks and substations during this decade. This pace of investment is the result of Finland's goal of becoming climate neutral by 2035 and where production and consumption of zero-emission electricity is expected to increase significantly.

"This means that we can expect high demand for planning services and calls for tenders related to these investments," says Matti Hautero.

Being approved as a supplier in Fingrid's supplier register is a process in several stages, where Fingrid places demands on both financial and technical capacity. The company also requires references from a longer period of time.

"We have now passed the rigorous selection process and are already preparing our first tender," says Matti Hautero.

Of course, there is great competition between suppliers, where many offer to both design and build the transmission lines.

“We want to challenge this model. We never build, but only design, and we believe that this allows us to be a better partner for the client and a quality controller between the contractor and the client, ” Matti Hautero concludes.
