Rejlers remains a trusted partner in the development of a new neighbourhood

In Gothenburg’s new Karlastaden district, 270,000 square metres of real estate are scheduled for development, including the construction of 2,000 apartments. Rejlers is heavily involved in the process of developing this emerging new district and has been awarded yet another project to develop one of the district’s eight city blocks.

In autumn 2016, Rejlers undertook its first assignment under the Karlastaden development project. Karlastaden is a completely new district in the Lindholmen district of Gothenburg. The contract involved drawing up plans for electrical power supplies, telecommunications, security and lifts in Block 1, where both hotels and Karlatornet are situated. Reaching a height of 245 metres, the latter is the pride of the district and is Gothenburg's first true skyscraper and the tallest building in the Nordic region. Rejlers has now been entrusted with carrying out a project planning assignment for another block.

“This new project involves managing construction document planning for electrical power supplies, telecommunications and security installations in Block 0, where both a multi-storey car park and Mediabolaget will be located,” says Stefan Johansson, project manager at Rejlers.

“We’ve been involved in the Karlastaden project for a long time now and have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the new district. Of course, it feels great to be remain a trusted partner in the project; it’s a clear indication that the client, Karlastaden Utveckling AB, is pleased with our previous efforts,” continued Stefan.

Rejlers will be there every step of the way

The new contract runs until autumn 2018, but Rejlers’ involvement will not end there. The task of acting as the district’s infrastructure coordinator has already been given to Rejlers. This task involves ensuring that every city block receives the electrical power supply and telecom, water, wastewater services, etc. that are needed in order for the district to function and be an attractive place to both live and work.

About Karlastaden:

Karlastaden is being developed on former industrial land in the Lindholmen district of Gothenburg, which boasts views of the city’s harbour. The district comprises eight city blocks covering an area of approximately 31,000 square metres. As a whole, they form a dense, mixed use “city within a city,” with about 2,000 apartments (both rentals and condominiums) covering a total area of around 200,000 square metres, as well as around 70,000 square metres of commercial space in the form of hotels, restaurants, offices and retail outlets. Karlastaden’s focal point is the imposing 73-storey Karlatornet. Reaching a height of 245 metres, it will be the Nordic region’s tallest building. www.karlastaden.se
