Rejlers invests in Sweden's fastest growing sport

Rejlers is continuing its investment in health, and is now the main partner of one of Sweden's leading cycling teams for elite amateurs. To reflect this, the team is changing its name from Swedbank Cycling Team to Rejlers Cycling Team. The team, which features a number of well-known business personalities, took part in all the major races on the cycling calendar in Sweden in 2014 – and their journey is now continuing into 2015.

In recent years cycling has become incredibly popular as a sport for exercise and keeping fit. Bike sales are going through the roof; almost 20 per cent more have been sold since 2010, meaning that nearly 600,000 bikes were sold in Sweden in 2014 alone. At the same time, all the start places at the big amateur cycling races are snapped up in just a few minutes by committed and passionate sports cyclists.

Rejlers is investing whole-heartedly in health issues and fitness programmes. We aim to encourage all of our employees to maintain an active lifestyle by making generous contributions to fitness activities and sponsoring start places in various amateur races. Health is one of the company’s four core values and permeates the entire business.

Peter Rejler, in collaboration with the legendary Swedish-owned cycle brand Bianchi, has travelled around the Nordic countries handing out bikes at Rejlers offices. These bikes can be used by staff to get to customer visits or to take part in one of the amateur races arranged all over the Nordic region.

“At Rejlers we’ve taken a strategic approach to health for many years now, and we’re investing in different initiatives to get our employees to feel healthy; cycling is just one of them. We are hoping that this collaboration will inspire our staff and that their own bikes will be out on the roads just as much as the team's are,” says Peter Rejler, President and CEO of Rejlers.

As part of this initiative, Rejlers Cycling Team will represent Rejlers at all major amateur races in Sweden, at several international amateur races and on the race track for Seniors and Veterans. Together with the team’s equipment sponsor, the Swedish helmet and clothing company POC, the team will continue to make a major impact on Swedish amateur cycling.

Several Rejlers employees will ride with the new Rejlers Cycling Team, including Peter Rejler. The team will also be used for cycling-based training and inspiration sessions at Rejlers.

Facts:
Rejlers Cycling Team was started in 2014 by David Schwieler and Thomas Backteman with the assistance of POC and Swedbank and consists of over 70 elite amateurs in the Stockholm region. Members include several well-known business personalities, such as the architect and entrepreneur Thomas Sandell; Thomas Eriksson, CEO of Carnegie; Håkan Karlsvärd, CEO of advertising agency Ingo; and Richard Åkerman, the managing partner at law firm Hanes Snellman in Stockholm. The team was one of the most publicised initiatives in Swedish amateur cycling in 2014, and with the support of the engineering consultancy firm Rejlers 2015 will see the team continue to cement its position as Sweden's leading cycling team for elite amateurs.
