Rejlers - one of the first in Sweden to have certified energy mappers

Now, the EU's energy efficiency directive has become reality. According to the Swedish Energy Agency, about 1,100 of Sweden's largest companies are now required by law to map their energy consumption and propose measures to reduce energy use.

"In order to be able to do energy mapping, you must be certified. We have now gone through all the steps of the training course and will soon be given our certificate," says Per Sjöbom, CEO of Rejlers Energy Project.

The companies and activities that are embraced by the law stand for about half of Sweden's energy consumption which means there is great scope for reducing both costs and environmental impact. Rejlers has models for measures that on average will imply 20 percent savings in addition to the environmental benefits.

"What distinguishes us from other players on the market is that we take care of the entire process - from mapping consumption, then suggesting energy-effective solutions to implementing the measures. Just a report will not generate any benefits for either the company or the environment," says Per Sjöbom.

A certified energy mapper will function as a project leader and will work together with the company's employees to identify energy waste and come up with measures. Per Sjöbom emphasises the importance of collaboration and that the main task of a certified mapper is to lead the work. At the same time, the company will undergo a process of learning which will lead to a general increase of knowledge within the field of energy.
